This necklace is based on Jenny Joseph's poem 'Warning' - When I'm an old woman, I shall wear purple, with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me. You can read the full poem on my blog here. The necklace is about 17" long, and sterling silver.
I had this white little rose for a long time, always intending to wire her up. Then, I got these beautiful lavender coloured pearls, and finally the rose knew what she wanted to be. The rose itself measures about 29mm across, and she has been set in my own custom sterling silver finding. The ceramic beads separating the pearls have been covered with fine silver. Just...lovely. Overall length is roughly 17".
I love creating asymmetrical necklaces, I love making glass beads, and I love a bit of sterling silver work! And I felt the need to create a necklace for those of us who want to be stylish, classy, and quirky at the same time. This necklace features handmade lampwork beads, wired up with swarovski crystals on sterling silver. The clasp is handforged out of 3mm sterling silver wire, brushed to a satin finish. The words "MAD AS A" have been stamped into the clasp, leading to the lampworked, multi-coloured hat. Lewis Carroll, eat your heart out - Alice in Wonderland would have worn it! Wear this necklace to the office or a party, you're sure to attract comments and smiles - it certainly made me smile when I made it. The lariat finished in a sterling silver round hammered finish bead.
